Welcome to the 2022-23 school year!

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! We are excited to welcome your children to Delaine Eastin Elementary.

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kevin Packham and I am the new Principal of Delaine Eastin Elementary. I have been a part of the New Haven Unified education community for 24 years. I began my education career as a substitute teacher in New Haven and after earning my teaching credential, I spent 15 years teaching 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades at Guy Emanuele Elementary School. For the last eight years I have served as Assistant Principal at Itliong-Vera Cruz Middle School. I am extremely excited to be a part of the Eastin community and return to the elementary school level.

Ms. Lisa Mata is also joining the Delaine Eastin administration team this year as our Assistant Principal. We will share her with Pioneer Elementary School.

Kindergarten Orientation

We have been receiving quite a few requests for student/parent tours of the school site. Unfortunately, we are not able to have visitors in the classrooms and halls of the school during the summer. Our hard working custodian staff, office staff, district maintenance crew, and teachers are cleaning, repairing, and prepping the classrooms and learning spaces for the start of the new school year. This work is ongoing throughout the summer and goes right up to the day before school starts. I have attached the Eastin Kindergarten Orientation Slide Show to give you some information about what to expect this year in our kindergarten classes.

Aeries Student Information System

Aeries – New Student Information System (SIS)

This year New Haven Unified schools will be using Aeries Student Information System. This is replacing Q Student Information System. The integration process is currently taking place and will hopefully be complete the beginning of next week. Once this process is complete, I will be able to email all Eastin families. Please check your email daily next week for updates and important beginning of school information.

Emergency Contact Updates

Emergency contact updates will take place electronically this year through the Aeries Parent/Student Portal. At this time, the Aeries Parent/Student Portal is not accessible to families. Please check your email daily next week for important Aeries Parent/Student Portal information.

Eastin Student Classroom Assignments for 2022-23 School Year

Your child’s classroom/teacher assignment for the 2022-23 School Year will be available to you in the Aeries Parent/Student Portal. Our goal is to have this available to you on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Please check your email daily next week for important classroom/teacher assignment information.

Before and After School Program – Beyond the Bell

Click for link to website!

We are very excited to introduce our “Beyond the Bell” after school programs which will serve all elementary schools (“Beyond the Bell”) and both middle schools (“Beyond the Bell Alliance”). These programs will replace our current Kids First and Kids Zone programs. The program is designed to assist and support students with academics and provide opportunities to participate in a variety of fun and engaging enrichment activities. At this time, we will also be offering before school care at Alvarado, Eastin, Kitayama, and Searles Elementary Schools. Additional before-school programs will open at elementary sites if there is a need (20 or more interested families).
